Welcome to Closely Observed Frames

As we enter another week of lockdown it is with great sadness to witness the permanent closure of a number of cinemas across the UK and beyond. The Movie House, Belfast is one of many that has officially closed its doors, a cinema I frequented for the few years I lived in Northern Ireland. I remember going with a friend for the last time only a few months ago. The closure of cinemas will no doubt have a devastating impact, but I am optimistic that we will soon again be embracing films on the big screen. There are far greater issues in the present climate, but films bring us together and if nothing else, offer us a temporary escape from lockdown.

Alongside guest writers, I will be sharing my thoughts and opinions on films, old and new, as well presenting a film of the week and interviewing guest speakers in the industry. Thank you for taking the time to read over and look through my blog. I think this is going to be the beginning of a beautiful friendship.
